Esther Duflo is a renowned French-American economist known for her pioneering work in the field of development economics. Born on October 25, 1972, in Paris, she obtained her Ph.D. from MIT and is currently a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Duflo is a co-founder and director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), which conducts field experiments to determine effective solutions for global poverty alleviation. In 2019, she became only the second woman to win the Nobel Prize in Economics for her groundbreaking research on alleviating poverty through innovative and evidence-based policies.
