Grace Hopper was a pioneering American computer scientist and Navy rear admiral. Born in 1906, she made significant contributions to the development of computer programming languages, including COBOL. Hopper was one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer and later worked on the UNIVAC I. Known for popularizing the term "bug" in reference to a computer glitch, she was a trailblazer for women in STEM fields. Hopper received numerous awards for her groundbreaking work before passing away in 1992.
