Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) was a Spanish mystic, writer, and reformer. Born in Avila, Spain, she entered the Carmelite convent at a young age. Known for her profound spiritual experiences and writings, she played a crucial role in the Catholic Counter-Reformation. Teresa authored several spiritual classics, including "The Interior Castle" and "The Way of Perfection." She founded numerous convents and is renowned for her dedication to prayer, meditation, and the pursuit of a deeper connection with God. Teresa of Avila was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1622.
