James Monroe, born on April 28, 1758, was the fifth President of the United States, serving from 1817 to 1825. He was a key figure in early American history, playing crucial roles in the Revolutionary War and the development of the young nation. Monroe is best known for the Monroe Doctrine, which warned European powers against further colonization in the Americas. Prior to his presidency, he served as Secretary of State and Secretary of War under President James Madison.
