John Kerry is an American politician and diplomat who served as the United States Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, he was a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts from 1985 to 2013. Kerry was the Democratic nominee for President in 2004, narrowly losing to George W. Bush.
