Jon Postel (1943-1998) was a pioneering computer scientist widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the Internet. He played a crucial role in developing key protocols and standards that enabled the Internet to become the global network it is today. Postel was instrumental in the creation of the Domain Name System (DNS) and the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), among others. His dedication to collaboration and open standards earned him the nickname "God of the Internet." Sadly, Postel passed away unexpectedly in 1998, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of computer networking.
