Yitzhak Rabin was an Israeli military officer, statesman, and Prime Minister. Born in 1922 in Jerusalem, he served in the Palmach, the elite fighting force of the Haganah, during the Israeli War of Independence. Rabin later held various military positions, including Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces. He was known for his role in signing the Oslo Accords in 1993, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Tragically, Rabin was assassinated in 1995 by a right-wing Jewish extremist. His legacy as a peacemaker and national hero lives on in Israeli history.
