Shirin Ebadi is an Iranian lawyer, human rights activist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Born in 1947 in Hamadan, Iran, she became the first female judge in Iran before being forced to resign after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Ebadi then dedicated her career to promoting human rights, particularly the rights of women, children, and political prisoners in Iran. In 2003, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her courageous efforts in advocating for human rights and democracy in Iran. Today, she continues her activism and works as an author and lecturer on human rights issues globally.
